Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
