Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
