New Information Come to Light Regarding the Location of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the shocking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
The Discovery
According to a report citing a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held without bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
Additionally disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to reports of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
