First-choice Eleven

The goalkeeper Not a save to perform in the first half until called into action from Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. A sliding intervention on Qazim Laci highlighted his game intelligence. 6/10

The debutant Examined against the opposition's main danger in their forward. Started through the middle to begin with but moved to the flank after a teammate entered the fray. Seven

The defender Pushed up the pitch with the ball at his feet, as he has done before. On occasion seemed hesitant in possession with the experiment discontinued after the break. 6

Dan Burn A nuisance at set pieces, per usual, but may be an alternative for his teammate in the backline rather than alongside him. A loose pass in the second half came close to a goal for the visitors. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly One more assured display by the rising star following his first cap versus another side. A teammate was unable to take the most of an exquisite backheel over the Albania defence. The left-back spot is firmly his at this stage. 7

The newcomer His first start with the national team. Somewhat careless in possession though his inswinging corners caused problems. An effective pace-controller for the boss to utilize against defensive opponents. Booked for a poorly timed challenge. 6/10

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free kicks caused problems. Enjoyed license to move down the left flank only to be offside when the ball arrived with a chance to score. Granted a well-earned break after an hour. Six

The star midfielder Operated in an advanced position on the right and contributed with dirty work. Displayed flashes of quality and mishit a shot over. Replaced towards the end by a teammate, his rival, following a yellow card. Seven

The winger Was presented with England’s top opening before halftime, his effort well saved by the Albanian keeper. With a teammate hanging back, he was forced to offer an outlet out wide but his crosses from the touchline were hit and miss. Substituted for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

Harry Kane The decisive figure netting two more strikes at international level. The first a classic close-range tap-in and his next a superb header after peeling away from his marker. At 32, he continues to improve and England have every chance in future competitions when he's in the team. 8/10

The attacker Found it tough to make an impact from the left. Had a presentable chance after being played in from a teammate yet the keeper made the save. His replacement had a greater influence when substituted. 5
