Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features text commentary for Sunday's games via various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on designated networks covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the NFL season , following recent discussion regarding two top teams as possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.
Striking in those games were the amount of penalties each committed. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it proved positive to observe how Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall before direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.
Denver boast the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, and Denver won that contest.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always sending extra defenders instead they could plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted on a program how Denver could be this season's dark horses. They ended last season well then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled significantly and recent RB their rusher is a player the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how Denver represent a squad that wants to run first, because one can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable down and distances.
This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass all over, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.
His assets include his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays great composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He has a high football IQ and remains very decisive.
If you constantly rush it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defence has to cover the field vertically side to side. It can be draining.
Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. He can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.
Payton has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having offensively is largely down to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they good enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and this is exactly what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.
Ever since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders before the Chiefs.
In their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.
It depends on what version of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
